Ever find yourself in a pessimistic, gloomy-Gus mood? Where you’re just tired and things seem hopeless and you’d like nothing better than to just give up because that’d be easier than what you’re doing now? Sometimes it helps to get a different perspective. Sometimes you just need a break. Sometimes it helps to take a “personal” day or moment and treat yourself to a milkshake, go to the mall for a pretzel, or search for a hidden treasure at your local thrift shop. If you’re creative, it helps to be able to express your feelings in writing or art. These are not always possible after a long work day when you’re low on energy and high on stress, so sometimes all you can do is kick back and watch something to get your mind off things. I don’t know if this will help you, but here are some things that have helped me.
The number one thing is God. Come to me all you who labor and are burdened and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). That is my FAVORITE Bible verse. It’s on my computer’s wallpaper so I read and think about it pretty much daily. If I ever start to forget what’s truly important, that helps remind me and I come to Him in prayer. God gives me the strength and energy to continue when I need to, and He also lets me enjoy periods of rest when the world does everything it can to stop that. I’m sometimes amazed at what He lets me accomplish (without coffee because I don’t like it) when other days it seems I can’t even keep my eyes open. He knows I can afford to rest even though at the moment I feel I can’t or shouldn’t. God’s like nope, that to-do list can wait for tomorrow. And even sleep-deprived and exhausted, I’ve been like I don’t know how I’m going to stay up but God gives me the energy and I’m not even tired anymore! God is good. The next thing isn’t profound, but just simply to take some time to relax and listen to some music (you can see what I think is real music on my music post haha) or watch either an inspirational or a funny video or movie. Drama is fine if you want something to suit your mood and get some of your emotions out. However, I suggest you end on a good note with humor. Studio C members branched off into JK Studios that came out with a new video series called Freelancers. The first episode had one of the best pep talks I have ever heard in my life. It’s even better in the video, as the acting is so awesome and hilarious that merely reading it cannot do it justice. It must be seen/heard to be fully appreciated. But I just had to document it because these are truly words to live by ;) “Don’t worry Zona, things always go wrong for us. Then somehow, people keep paying us. Not enough. I don’t have enough money for my heart medication, but I do have hope. Except when I’m afraid. Which is always. So I never have hope. Why would I? Things are bad. It is a hopeless netherscape out there. And we, but weary travelers. And here’s the thing, it’s okay! Because we all die one day.” (Ryan, Freelancers) Freelancers episode 1 JK Studios https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmCbs1Zrogg Comments are closed.
